CIMPA-UNESCO-ARGENTINA School

Real Analysis and its Applications

Objectives :
The purpose of the School is to introduce young Latin-American mathematicians to the most recent developments of Real Analysis. The intention is to cover a range as broad as possible, from theory to applications. Thus, the school will include topics such as Vector Valued Transference Methods, new aspects of Calderón-Zygmund theory, Semigroups of Linear Operators, Heisenberg Nilmanifolds together with the discussion of fluid dynamics problems involving Fractional Powers of the Laplacian, and applications of Harmonic Analysis to Medical Tomography.

Organizers :
A. Bonami (Université d'Orléans, France), E. Harboure (IMAL - Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Santa Fe, Argentina), R. Macías (IMAL –Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Santa Fe, Argentina), J. L. Torrea (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain)

Working languages:
English, Spanish

Date and location:
May 26-June 6, 2008, La Falda, Córdoba, Argentina

Scientific program and lecturers: (abstracts)
The School will last two weeks and it is designed on the basis of 8 courses of 5 hours each and a series of  45 minutes-talks. For the conferences we have invited specialists from a wide range of topics in Real Analysis. The speakers who have agreed to give a talk are: Hugo Aimar (Argentina), Jorge Betancor (Spain), Manuel Elgueta (Chile), Gustavo Garrigós (Spain), Omar Gil Alvarez (Uruguay), Michael Lacey (United States), Ursula Molter (Argentina), Manuel del Pino (Chile), Fulvio Ricci (Italy), Francisco Martín Reyes (Spain), Linda Saal (Argentina), Peter Sjögren (Sweden), Rodolfo Torres (United States).

As for the courses the program is:
Aline Bonami (Université d'Orléans, France) : Some applications of Calderon-Zygmund theory to Hankel and Toeplitz operators
Oscar Blasco (Universidad de Valencia, Spain) : Bilinear Hilbert transform and other multipliers. Transference and applications.
Luis Caffarelli (The University of Texas at Austin, USA) : Non linear problems involving fractional powers of the laplacian.
Jacek Dziubanski (Wroclaw University, Poland) : Harmonic analysis associated with certain simigroups of linear operators.
Alberto Grünbaum (University of California, Berkeley, USA) : Approximation in medical tomography. Shannon's problem in information theory and the origin of the bispectral problem.
Carlos Pérez (Universidad de Sevilla, Spain) : Applications of real and complex analysis to commutators of B.M.O. functions with singular integrals and general linear operators.
Sundaram Thangavelu (Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore, India) : Harmonic analysis on Heisenberg nilmanifolds
José Luis Torrea (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain) : Vector valued transference.

E-mail address of the congress: cimpa2008@ceride.gov.ar

Prerequisites:
The school is mainly addressed to postgraduate students and young researchers from Latin America and the Caribbean wishing to enrich and deepen their knowledge in real analysis. Therefore, potential participants should at least have graduated in mathematical sciences.

Deadline for registration : March 31, 2008

Application procedure and Online registration only for applicants not from Argentina
Applicants from Argentina must contact the local organizer Ms E. Harboure   (harbour@ceride.gov.ar)
