CIMPA-UNESCO-IRAN School

Commutative Algebra and Applications to Combinatorics and Algebraic Geometry

Objectives :
There is already a fairly large community of mathematicians specializing in commutative algebra in Iran. The general consensus of this community is that the interaction with related areas of algebraic and arithmetic geometry and combinatorics will enhance the vitality of the research in this field. A primary goal of the school is to cultivate such interaction.

Organizers:
Marc Chardin (CNRS & University of Paris 6, France)
David Eisenbud (University of California, Berkeley, USA)
Jurgen Herzog (University of Duisburg-Essen , Germany)
Mehrdad Shahshahani (IPM, Tehran, Iran)
Ngo Viet Trung (Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology, Vietnam)
Siamak Yassemi (IPM, Tehran, Iran)
Rahim Zaare-Nahandi (University of Tehran, Iran)

Working languages:
English

Date and location:
June 2030, 2009, Tehran (Iran)

Scientific program:

The activities will be divided into two parts. The first week (20-23 June) is a school with 7 instructional courses on the following topics:
- Semigroups of Valuations on Local Rings, Dale Cutkosky, University of Missouri, USA
- Crystalline Cohomology and Applications (I), Dale Husemoller, MPI, Bonn, Germany
 - Crystalline Cohomology and Applications (II), Mehrdad Shahshahani, IPM, Iran
- Primary Decomposition of Binomial Ideals,
Ezra Miller, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA
- Characteristic p Methods in Commutative Algebra, Anurag Singh, University of Utah, USA
 - TBA,
Bernard Teissier, Institut Mathématiques de Jussieu, France
 - Numerical Criteria for Reductions, and Equisingularity , Bernd Ulrich, Purdue University, USA

The second week (27-30 June) is devoted to an international conference. Besides invited speakers, there will be opportunities for mathematicians to present their research works.

Prerequisites:
Research scholars and advanced Ph.D. students in commutative algebra and related topics.
