Orthogonal Families and Semi-groups in Analysis and Probability

Objectives :
Present the basic elements of the theory of Semi-groups related to orthogonal expansions. Discuss and compare the analytical and probabilistic aspects of the theory. Introduce the students to recent and varied applications of this theory.

1. D. Barcenas: Semi-groups of Operators and Control Theory
2. P. Feinsilver :  Lie algebras, probability semigroups, and representations
3. J. Faraut: Random matrices and orthogonal polynomials
4. P. Graczyk: Stochastic aspects of Semi-groups: Processes of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck and of Laguerre
5. S. Thangavelu: Hermite and Laguerre Semi-groups:  recent developments
6. W. Urbina:  Classical Semi-groups and functional inequalities

II.  Seminar of participants and invited researchers.

Prerequisites :
basic background in analysis, functional analysis, Fourier analysis, probability. Preparation of  MSc. or PhD level, young researchers.
